I believe this dude is one of the recipients of the Darwin Award. Normally rewarded post-humously. I believe this fellow fell into the exception clause. Those who never-the-less take themselves out of the gene pool and are unable to breed.
The story I have been told is that this barely sapient friend decided he wanted to show off for some people. He lit an M80 in his mouth to show how uniquely dangerously deviant he is. Leaving the M80 in his mouth too long it went off. So now everyone can see how unique he is by sight.
